Printers who aren’t going green from top to bottom are often accused of masquerading their businesses behind a facade of sustainability. It need not be like that.
Especially with large format printing, green may be more like eco-friendly, or eco-driven. The devices themselves are extremely big, with big stepper motors, so there isn’t much chance of huge power savings, except perhaps when the printer is willing to install solar panels. Still, printers can do a lot to cut eco-costs, even with super wide format devices like the VUTEk printer range.
Furthermore, whether it’s recycling everything from printer cartridges to media waste; committing themselves to a top-to-bottom recycling program; using biodegradable and water-based materials; or putting pressure on vendors and other partners to follow their green suit, printers can help ensure the 21st century will be a cleaner era for their business and their industry.
